reading #8

I read more of twilight. I only read a little bit but I read a part when a really good friend of Charlie, Bella's dad, stopped in to there house. Billy, Charlies friend, warned Bella about the Cullens because he knew that they had started to hang out. He was being rather mean about Edward and there whole family. This was scary for Bella because she knew that he knew what he was talking about. She just defended the Cullens the whole time. Now this part isn't much that I read but I took some things out of it. One that you have to stand up for what you believe, and another that when you love someone so much you lose so much care for other things. Bella knows so much about Edward and loves him so much that nothing that anyone else could say could make her like him any less.

Reading #7

I'm still reading Twilight and it's a very good book. To me it's one of those books that you cannot put down, which is rare for me. The reason I think I like this so much is because it has to do with kids close to my age. But the thing these kids are getting into is something I will probably never have at this age. Love is a crazy thing and this book shows how much someone can really care and love someone. I just finished the part when Bella was at the Cullen's house. I didn't read that much after but I read a part when Bella was telling her dad about her boyfriend. He was really shocked and didn't seem to like it too much. He thought he was to old, but the thing is Edward always stays the same age. Edward was actually born over 200 years ago, but stays 17. But once she talks to him he finds it okay. I'm anxious to see how things turn out and if everything goes okay.

Reading #6

I read more of Twilight. The part that I read is Edward slept over at Bellas house. This is a great part of the story because it's very romantic. Edward is a vampire so he cannot sleep. He stays up all night and is just with Bella, he tells her she is his life now and she says she loves him in her sleep. I can't imagine having a love like that. The next day they went to Edwards house so Bella could meet his family. This was a big deal because they are all vampires and Bella is a human, she is not scared at all though to go over there. When Bella gets there they are all very nice to her and treat her just normal, it's just how any family meeting would be. She learns about Edwards dad or adopted dad and learned how they all came about. All the people in the family were once humans but when they were on the verge of dying the dad found them and made them into vampires instead of dying. They are always the same age now and I think pretty much live forever.

reading #5

I am currently reading the book Twilight. This is probably my favorite book ever. The reason is because this book just keeps me on the edge and keeps me reading, a book has never done that for me before. I have never really been a big reader but this book makes me a big reader. I just read a part when Edward tells Bella hes a vampire. This is so interesting because she has been thinking he may be a vampire but she wasn't sure and just kind of let it pass, but it turns out he is. I also read how they are both very into each other and now they both know it. This is really hard for Edward because Bella's blood type is they type of blood that Edward likes. It's really hard for him not to want to take her life, but he just loves her so much that he can't do it even though it is his instinct. That would be a very hard thing but it shows how much someone can love someone. I can't wait until I find that kind of love with someone, this book kind of gives me hope and hopefully something to look forward to.

Reading #4

I read an article in the newspaper about a rcount for the senate. This is not the first article I have seen for a recount. Why are there so many problems with the ballots? They are now going to hand count the ballots. There are 2.9 million ballots. They think they will be done hand counting these in about a month. I'm anxious to see how this turns out. I understand that they want to do a recount because if I were in the situation I would probably want the same thing. I just wonder if it's going to change anything. They are putting so much time and effort into recounting the ballots, and if they same guy wins thats a total waste of time. They may be making this too much of a big deal, but thats just my opinion, I think it's important to do but also hand counted? Wow this is going to take them a long time and a lot of effort. Again I am anxious to see how this turns out.

Reading #3

I read in article in the paper about lving in a multigenerational home. In the article it was a mom with a son that was 17. Also in the home was her daughter also with a son and a boyfriend, her son was 5. This article was about living with family that also has family. A little confusing. But the article said that this is more likely to start happening to young adults to come live at home because of the economy. There has been in increase of 65 percent more families doing this from 2000-2007. It can really help out the young adults to get there lives straight. They can now settle and look for jobs without the worry of paying for there home. It really helps them be less stressful and now they can make the correct desecion on the choice of future they want to take. I think this is a really great thing because it helps the younger ones so much. The economy is just going to keep getting worse so ill probably be back home with my parents when I get out of college.

Quarter 2 reading #2

I read in article in the paper about making it illegal to smoke in public places. They are making this more and more common everyday. Personally I support this. The reason I support this is because smoking is illegal for anyone under 18. Well public places are for people any age. And it is a fact that second hand smoke is just as bad as smoking. This means there are children ages 0-17 and other people who choose not to smoke walking around in other peoples smoke getting almost the same effect as smokers because they are getting the second hand smoke. That is almost illegal because they children are pretty much almost smoking. I think smoking should be illegal in most public places because people just walking by get the smoke. Thats not fair to people who don't want to pass smoke on a public place. And smoking is just not worth it. Why do it? There is not good reason to start smoking, so please keep the earth safe and others safe, don't smoke.

Reading quarter 2 #1

Today I read this article in the paper about a girl at Augsberg college getting beat because she was wearing a McCain Palin button. On campus a group of girls walked up to her and called her racist for wearing the button and then beat her. The girl got a concussion from this beating. The main point I got out of this article is that you can't judge someone just by what they are wearing or showing. How could the girls think she was being racist just because she was wearing the button? She was just supporting a candidate, how in the world does that connect to racisim. This shows people are not exactly as free as we think. If we can't support something without being prosictued for another how are we free? And how can someone judge you like that whent they don't even know your views on why you support them. People need to take another look around and realize even if people don't believe in the same things as you, they still have a say and you can't judge a book by its cover.

Reading #7

Today I read another article in Dance Magazine. This article was about food that's right for you. The main point in this article is saying different people work better off different foods. For example if you do better eating oatmeal for breakfast, but your friend does better eating eggs. This article can show you whats right for you, and that you should not base you eating decisions/habits off of other peoples diets. There is also this thing called a blood type diet. What it says is that we should eat according to our blood type. For example blood type O work better of eating meat, they are more meat eaters. Blood type A works better of farm things like vegetarians. They say if you follow your blood type and what you should it you will work better, feel better, and be healthier. One of the main messages of this article is to tell you not to worry about what others are eating, eat what makes you feel good and what makes you full.

Reading #6 MLP

I read more of A Million Little Pieces today and they it was about James getting questioned about the night he got taken into the unit, and all the illegal things he has done. He has a possession, possession with intent to distribute, three DUI's, a bunch of vandalism and destruction of property charges, assault, assault with a deadly weapon, assaulting and officer of the law, public drunkenness, and disturbing the piece. He had done a lot wrong. This are all reasons why James has been taken into the unit, to turn his life around and make sure he doesn't do things liket his again. James also confesses that he has comtemplated suicide. This book is very interesting right now...it's a page turner. James has also been making a living on selling drugs. He has a lot to do while hes at the unit, and I'm excited to read on and see what happens and if he gets better, and maybe if he goes back to his old ways when he gets let out.

Neurblastoma Childhood Cancer Heros

Neurblastoma is a type of childhood cancer. Neuroblastoma is one of the rarest and most deadly. The fundraisers for childhood cancer research are great...but almost zero of the money goes to Neurblastoma. That's why these kids fighting are my hero's. When diagnosed with Neurblastoma most cases are 30% chance of survival. These kids almost have no chance...but when you see them all you see is hope. You see survival living through them, you see strength courage and life. Why is it these kids have EVERYTHING to lose but live with more then all of us, when we have everything right beside us. We can all learn something from these kids. Everyday when I wake up I think about what they have to do today, and what I have to do. They have to go through chemotherapy, radiation, bone marrow transplants, and I think my homework and dance is hard. But I have truly been blessed because I had this cancer (It's actually me in the two pictures above). But I am one of the lucky survivors, you won't see many. So please let these kids be your hero's, they can show you life and strength. After reading about them I'm sure you will look at life in a new way.

Quotes

If Children have the ability to ignore odds and percentages, then maybe we can all learn from them. When you think about it, what other chance is there but to hope? We have two options, medically and emotionally: give up, or fight like hell".

If you think you can do it, you can. If you believe you can do it, you will. If you trust you can do it, you will make a difference."

One of my good friends had neuroblastoma but sadly lost her life. Her journey was one of the greatest. she was also a dancer and she had cancer for over 4 years. She gives me strength still to this day. Her mother made a good quote about her strength and how Christi's fight went.

She bravely fought with the strength of a soldier while maintaining the grace and beauty of a ballerina - teaching life’s lessons along the way.

Read more about Christi she was truly amazing, she was child of the month it's a great story http://www.geocities.com/childofthemonth/FebruaryChristi.html. She also has a website http://www.christithomas.com/.

I also do a fundraiser every year called "Alex's Lemonade Stand". Alex is a little girl who also battled neuroblastoma but also lost her life. This is one of the greatest stories. When she was going through treatment she wanted to find a way to help other kids going through treatment. She told her parents she wanted to start a lemonade stand to raise money for childhood cancer research. This lemonade stand has become nation wide and has been going on for 5 years. Alex is one of the biggest hero's because even though she is not here today she is helping other kids survive. Her fundraiser is one of the biggest. This just shows how much a child can do. Alex is my hero.

Alex at her stand. Alex's Book. Some friends and I helping at the stand.

Alex also wrote a book which her video is based on..its very cool. Watch her video it will truly touch your heart. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gM9GbaSsUaE
The people in my life that are hero's are these kids. They are not known superheros but they do have super strength, more then super hero's in movies. These kids go through more in 1-4 years then many people do in there whole life. I hope you learned something from them and read there stories and watched the videos. I hope they can be your hero's too.

MLP

I read more of A Million Little Pieces today. In what I read today they James was remembering everything that had happened at the rehabilitaion unit and how he got there. When he got there he met this mand named Roy. Roy told James all the rules and what he is supposed to do. James is trying to remember everything else but it's hard for him because of what he is going through. He remembers getting there and meeting a girl named Lilly. Roy tells him he can't talk to her because shes a girl...thats a rule not to talk to women. He remembers getting in the unit and meeting the people there. Most of them were addicts and had been in jail. They ask him weird questions and want him to play cards. James is tired and wants to sleep. James has no idea what he is getting in to. This is going to be a long and hard process. I'm excited to read on and see what James's thoughts are as hes going through rehab.

Dancing in college

I read another article from dance magazine and it's about dancing in college. I was glad to read this because I have wanted to dance in college but I still can't decide. It had good reason to..because you meet new people, feel apart of the school, get exercise, and have fun. But a big point they said was to make sure school is number one. School should always come before dance..even if its hard. Dance is also great to do in college because it's a great way to let your emotions out and feelings. If you had a rough day it's nice to be able to dance. For me and other dancers that usually helps. This article made my thinking on college dancing a little clearer but I'm still not sure yet.

Dance Magazine Article

I read an article in dance magazine about managing your time with dance and school. Yeah it might sounds stupid but I actually picked up some good things. One of the things I have been starting to do is making a "to do list". It actually helps because it makes me get things done. I know exactly what I have to do and then it makes me actually sit down and do my homework and not forget things. Another good thing was setting dead lines for myself. I tend to get things done at the last minute...which is not good. If I set a goal and say when I want to get it done and that I have to get it done...I will. All of this helps me be more organized and get better grades and manage my time with all the school work and dance going on.

MLP

I read more of A Million Little Pieces. It talks about how James (the main character) he is in the lounge room watching t.v. and all the sudden he just goes numb. He falls to the floor and tries to move but he can't. He can't feel anything and he just lies there till someone moves him. That would be the worst..almost like a little episode of locked in syndrome. Another part talks about when the doctor is cleaning James up, his fast mostly. He has to break his nose and put it back together to fix it...OUCH! But it makes it better. James is not getting much better, he has to take six sets of pills everyday. I'm very anxious to read on to see what happens to him.

A Million Little Pieces 2

Sorry this is a day late. But now I have read on a little bit and they are talking about what the man is experiencing while getting better and not drinking. His face is swollen and he feels pain and sickness when he can't drink. Getting over something like this is really hard to stop because its hard on your body to go from having so much to nothing. It also talks about his family coming to see him and how sad they are. It's hard for them to see him like this but they are assured he is in the best place. They all cry and give him hugs as the doctors re assure that he will be okay.

A Million Little Pieces

I started reading this book called A Million Little Pieces, it's a very good and interesting book. It's about a man who goes to rehab because he is an alcoholic. He is very sick at the beginning of the book because he can have nothing to drink. It's scary to see what his can do to you. It really changes my views about drinking and bad decisions. I am currently not very far in the book but am eager to read on and see what happens to this man. I want to see if he makes it through or quits and gives up and goes back to his old lifestyle. This book could really show strength and I like to read about that.

A Child Shall Lead Them

My favorite book is called "A Child Shall Lead Them" by Diane Komp. This book is about a womens life as a docter taking care of a baby with cancer. This book is more about her finding herself through the baby she is looking after. The baby is the first going through a bone marrow transplant, which people are usnsure will work. This is about her faith-affirming experiance. How she finds joy and faith in terminally-ill children. She learns more about life and how much she has, and what these little kids are going throught. This book really makes you take a second look on life and how lucky we are. I like this book because I battled cancer myself so it relates to me. It makes me thing again how lucky I am to be here, and to never take anything for granted.

Miracle

The adjective that best describes me would be miracle. The reason this adjective describes me is because I survived cancer, have no side effects from all of the treatment I received, and I give hope to many family’s. I survived a rare and most deadly childhood cancer called neuroblastoma. This makes me a miracle because rarely kids survive. I had 9 rounds of harsh chemotherapy, radiation, and bone marrow removed. My parents knew the side effects this could have given my body, but it was worth the risk for my survival. This makes me even more of a miracle that I went through all that treatment yet I’m still like any other person my age, playing all the sports I can. I am also a miracle to other families because of the hope I can bring them. This makes me feel very good about myself, because of my journey I am that miracle they are looking for. After all I’ve been through I like to consider myself a miracle

EHS Hall of Fame

EHS Alumni Molly H. class of 2011, researcher. Molly's discovery is one of the biggest discovers ever and most likely forever. She found a way to kill all cancer cells, which yes is the cure to cancer. A thing no one thought possible was made possible by Molly's long hard research project. Molly graduated from EHS at the top of her class. She was always a hard working student willing to try new things. She was in the science fair every year of her highschool carrer, winning her senior year. Her favorite subject was always science, she loved working with chemicals. She always was trying new mixtures to see what would happen. I think it was her creative mind that led her to this great discovery. Molly is also a cancer survivor herself and this was her drive to find the cure. Molly was never afraid to try new things, I think she was the one to find the cure because she would try things others wouldn't dare. Molly has saved the lives of many, and thanks to her the world will no longer worry about that scary "C" word cancer.
